Vehicle Design Manager, Maglev 2000
George Maise is in charge of vehicle design for the MAGLEV 2000
of Florida Corporation. George was a mechanical engineer at Brookhaven
National Laboratory from 1974 to 1997. During that time, he provided
technical advice to the Hudson Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC")
on licensing of nuclear power reactors. He assisted NRC in developing
acceptance criteria for BWR containment systems, with emphasis on
hydrodynamic loads and structural response during postulated accidents.
He worked in the design and analysis of an advanced nuclear-powered
rocket engine for the Strategic Defense Initiative. Simultaneously,
he supervised an experimental group to characterize the thermal-hydraulic
performance of this engine.
From 1969 to 1974, Mr. Maise was an advanced design engineer for
Grumman Corporation, where he analyzed complex fluid mechanics and
heat transfer problems associated with aircraft propulsion systems,
aircraft hydraulic systems and Space Shuttle re-entry heating. He
holds a BS (cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Science from Princeton
University.
